SDPI Supports Nationwide Agitation Against FCRA Amendments

The Social Democratic Party of India has extended its support to the nationwide campaign launched by the Joint Action Forum on Minorities against the proposed Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) Amendment Bill, 2026. SDPI National General Secretary Riyaz Farangipete participated in a press conference in New Delhi, where the Forum announced a National Day of Fasting and Prayer, a Nationwide Protest Day on July 3, 2026, and signature and awareness campaigns across the country.

Addressing the media, Forum President and Member of Parliament P. Wilson described the proposed amendments as restrictive and harmful to NGOs, educational institutions, old-age homes, and other service organizations. He expressed concern over provisions requiring FCRA accounts to be maintained at the SBI Main Branch in New Delhi, restrictions on fund transfers, and the reduction of the administrative expenditure limit from 50% to 20%, warning that these measures could adversely affect welfare, healthcare, education, and relief activities.
