Arraigning Sitaram Yechuri et al in Delhi Violence: It’s High Time The Victims Stood United – SDPINew Delhi: Arraigning Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri, Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav, economist Jayati Ghosh, Delhi University professor and activist Apoorvanand and documentary filmmaker Rahul Roy in the NE Delhi violence in February this year, is yet another act of cowardice of Modi government to muzzle voices critical of the government, stated MK Faizy, national president of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). The Delhi Police under Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have totally been enslaved to be a tool for power abuse and are the puppets in the hands of Amit Shah, he said. Inclusion of the names of these leaders and activists in the supplementary charge-sheet has been claimed to be based on the “disclosure” of Pinjra Tod members Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal and Jamia Millia Islamia’s Gulfisha Fathima who had already been arrested by the Delhi police accusing them of provoking Delhi violence. The said “disclosures” disclosed by the Delhi Police in the charge sheet mock the common sense. A senior political leader like Yechuri, and other activists named in the charge sheet have been reported to have asked the protesters to indulge in violence to tarnish the image of the government! The admission of the Delhi Police that these student activists had refused to sign the “disclosure” itself reveal that it is cooked up by the Police. As the entire world had witnessed, the violence in NE Delhi erupted following the inflammatory and provocative speeches of Kapil Misra, Anurag Takur and other BJP leaders in the presence of high ranked Delhi Police officers. These leaders are left scot-free with state sponsored personal security. The present “disclosure” script is to exonerate these instigators of violence alleging that their provocative speeches were the result of the anti-CAA protests. Delhi Police themselves had brought out the WhatsApp group discussions of right-wing Hindutwa fascist fringe elements provoking and promoting violence and organising people and weapons to attack Muslims. The Union Government is implementing one by one the vision of Golwalker that Muslims, Christians and Communists are the enemies of the nation who are to be eliminated. So, it’s meaningless to demand the government to ensure justice and expect anything reasonable from them, said Faizy. He urged all the victims of RSS government’s witch-hunt to stand united to fight and defeat the undemocratic and unconstitutional measures of the government and save the country from the bigot fascists.
