Subsequent to the intervention of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the Sambhal Juma Masjid issue, the UP Governor has constituted a three-member judicial commission to probe the incident. Unfortunately, many important elements of the incident, which require investigation for a comprehensive understanding of the events such as the root of the controversy, under what circumstances the court-appointed advocate commissioner Ramesh Raghav was in an unwarranted hurry to conduct the survey of the mosque on November 19 evening within three hours of the orders of a local civil court, what led to the police firing, etc. are not in the scope of enquiry of this commission. Without including these key elements in the investigation, the probe will probably remain a mockery.
