Social Democratic Party of India Demands Immediate Action Against Hate Speech and Police Inaction
BM Kamble, National Vice President of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), today strongly condemned the inflammatory and Islamophobic remarks made by controversial priest Yati Narsinghanand, urging the Hindu majority to “take up arms” and form terrorist organizations akin to ISIS. The remarks were delivered via a viral video from his temple in Dasna, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), where he also expressed intent to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to discuss procuring weapons.
In the video, Narsinghanand—a self-proclaimed Hindutva leader with multiple ongoing cases for hate speech against Muslims—asserted that Hindus must “save their religion, family, and existence” by resorting to violence. He explicitly called for the creation of armed Hindu groups, drawing parallels to extremist organizations like ISIS, and claimed that Hindus “will not survive unless they take up arms.” The video has sparked widespread outrage, amplifying fears of communal polarization and vigilante violence.
“Yati Narsinghanand’s blatant incitement to terrorism and religious hatred is not just illegal but a direct threat to India’s secular fabric. It is shocking that despite his history of hate-mongering, the Uttar Pradesh Police and administration have failed to arrest him or dismantle his ecosystem of bigotry. This inaction emboldens extremists and undermines the rule of law,” said Kamble.
The SDPI questions the Uttar Pradesh government’s silence and the police’s failure to act under anti-terror statutes. Narsinghanand’s repeated provocations, including past calls for genocide against Muslims, have been met with impunity, raising concerns about the institutional bias and the state’s commitment to protecting minority communities.
The SDPI demands immediate arrest of Yati Narsinghanand and a thorough investigation into his terror-linked remarks. And accountability for UP Police’s delayed response and a review of similar hate speech cases pending in the state.
India cannot afford to normalize such toxic rhetoric. SDPI urges the National Human Rights Commission and the Supreme Court to intervene and ensure constitutional safeguards for all citizens, Kamble added.
