SDPI Strongly Condemns Hazaribagh Violence, Demands Justice and Urges Communal Harmony
The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) unequivocally condemns the communal violence that erupted in Ichak block, Hazaribagh, during Mahashivratri celebrations on 26th February 2025. The clashes, which injured over 20 individuals and caused significant property damage, represent a grave threat to peace and communal cohesion in Jharkhand.
SDPI delegation led by Jharkhand State President Mohammad Hanjala Shaik, including State Vice President Habiburahman, State General Secretary Thahmeedurahman, and State Working Committee member Umer Faruq, visited the violence-affected sites to assess the aftermath and engage with victims. Witnessing widespread trauma and destruction, the delegation underscored the urgent need for accountability, justice, and rehabilitation.
SDPI’s Demands:
1. Arrest and prosecute all perpetrators, regardless of political or communal affiliations.
2. Conduct a transparent, impartial probe free from political interference.
3. Provide financial relief to affected families and rebuild damaged homes and businesses.
4. Strengthen security protocols and community dialogue to avert future violence.
Statement by Mohammad Hanjala Shaik asserted: “This violence is a calculated assault on Jharkhand’s pluralistic fabric. Authorities must act decisively to punish the guilty and restore trust. We urge all communities to reject provocateurs and unite for peace. The SDPI remains steadfast in defending constitutional rights and fostering solidarity among citizens.”
The party warned against politicizing the incident and vowed to collaborate with civil society, grassroots organizations, and authorities to promote reconciliation. “Communal harmony is non-negotiable. We will tirelessly work to heal divisions and ensure justice prevails,” the statement concluded.
