Christians also are Not Safe Under the Sangh Parivar Rule

The United Christian Forum (UCF)’s “Violence Monitor Report” points to the escalating religious intolerance in BJP-ruled India. While Sangh Parivar celebrates the violence against Muslims through social media, attacks on Christians have been given low publicity, creating a feeling that Christians are safe under the BJP rule, at least to make the victims believe so. As per the report, there were 673 cases of violence against Christians till October this year, with only 47 of these cases resulting in FIRs being registered by the police. Uttar Pradesh emerged with the highest number of incidents (182), followed by Chhattisgarh (139).

A total of 23 out of India’s 28 states reported incidents related to violence against Christians. The words of UCF National Coordinator AC Michael “It has become increasingly difficult for the Christian population to practice their faith in India. What we are witnessing is a systematic rise in violence and intimidation,” express the severity of the situation. It would be foolish to expect any sort of positive action from a government that believes Muslims, Christians and Communists are the internal enemies of the nation.
