Murder of Three Youths by the Police in Sambhal is Highly Shocking and Condemnable
The brutal murder of three Muslim youths by the UP Police in Sambhal in UP is highly shocking and unpardonable. Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) strongly denounces and protests the police firing that ended in the death of these youths. The youths have been identified as Naved, Naeem, and Mohd Bilal Ansari. The survey has been part of the new normal in India, where all masjids and monuments constructed during the Mughal era are claimed by the right-wing Hindutva extremists as temples. They obtain court orders to conduct surveys on the premises and inside such constructions, which always reach the conclusion that there were remnants of Hindu temples on the premises and underneath such buildings. And finally, these masjids/monuments are taken over by the Sangh Parivar.
The lower court orders result from not following the Places of Worship Act 1991 which states that the status quo should be maintained as of 15th August 1947 on claims on places of worship. SDPI demands that the officers who murdered these three youths should be brought to book and given the maximum punishment so that such merciless killing of people on the streets is not repeated.
