In response to the one-sided actions regarding the communal riots in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, the National Vice President of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Uttar Pradesh in-charge, Mohammad Shafi, has issued a press release strongly condemning the Yogi government of the state. It is known that communal riots erupted during a procession in Bahraich, after which the state government apprehended some accused in an encounter.Mohammad Shafi has accused the BJP and local police of conspiring to protect the main culprits of the riots, while targeting the Muslim community. He stated, “Muslim youths were taken from their homes and arrested by the STF, but their families were not informed. The next day, a fabricated encounter story was made up. The Yogi government has strangled justice with yet another fake encounter.”In this entire case, Abdul Hamid’s daughter, Rukhsar, revealed that her father Abdul Hamid, along with her brothers Sarfaraz and Faheem, was taken by the UP STF, while her husband and brother-in-law had already been arrested. “We tried to inquire at several police stations, but no information could be found,” Rukhsar told the media. She had already expressed fears about her father being killed in a staged encounter.Mohammad Shafi claimed that the BJP government is attempting to politically exploit communal polarization through fake encounters. Assembly by-elections are due soon in some constituencies of Uttar Pradesh.”By giving the Bahraich riots a Hindu-Muslim angle, the BJP is trying to gain political mileage, and it is for this purpose that fake encounters of Muslim youths are being carried out!” he said.Demands:1. An impartial investigation of the Bahraich riots and this fake encounter should be conducted by a retired judge of the Supreme Court.2. Strict legal action should be taken against the main culprits of the riots and the police officers involved in the fake encounter.3. Appropriate compensation should be provided to the victims of communal violence, and a special judicial commission should be formed to ensure justice for the innocent Muslim youths.Mohammad Shafi emphasized that the government must conduct an impartial investigation so that strong action can be taken against those spreading hatred!
