Who authorises to carry violence must be investigated: SDPI
The violence on the occasion of Ramnavami in different parts of India is a cause of grave concern and condemnable. Such religious oriented violence does not bode well for a democracy and it is earning India a bad name across the world. These views were expressed in a press statement by Mohammad Shafi, National vice president of Social Demicratic Party of India (SDPI). Shafi said that the ongoing violence across many states on Ramnavami has put India on a global bad spotlight. Festivals are occasions and opportunities of communal harmony, not of spreading hatred and indulging in violence, he said.
The SDPI leader demanded a high level inquiry into the violence in which some mosques were covered while some madrasas, mausoleums and libraries were desecrated and destroyed by Hindutvawadi elements.
It is highly shameful and a matter of immediate investigation as to who authorises these anti-social elements to indulge in such kinds of violence and vandalism.
Shafi asked the Opposition leaders to raise their voice unanimously and order probe into such violent activities which are earning India a bad name across the globe.
