UP Government is Unflinching in Harming Muslims In Sambhal

Adv. Sharfudheen Ahmad

National Vice President

When the apex court stayed any further action on the masjid at Sambhal, the administration opted to harass the Muslims by alleging electricity theft and penalising them for it. They also reopened an abandoned temple and provided it with strong police security, creating a feeling that the temple was not safe in the area without police protection. Adityanath, who is bound to ensure peace and harmony, took a stand of adding fuel to fire. Linking the abandonment of the temple to a riot he stated in the Assembly that 184 Hindus had been burned alive in the 1978 Sambhal riots, whereas an independent dataset of communal violence only records the toll at 16. The trump card here also, is the fascist hallmark of lies and propaganda. Despite the disclosure of a member of the family who has the keys to the temple, to a television channel that, the family left Khaggu Sarai not out of fear, but because no other Hindu family was living in the locality, and nobody had encroached on the temple, the authorities and the Sangh Parivar associated ‘devotees’ spread the false allegation that the temple was not used fearing Muslims.

There appears to be a well-planned conspiracy by the rulers to create fear, disrupt harmony and suppress Muslims in the area by spreading lies and raising false allegations against Muslims to debilitate them.SDPI demands that the authorities end harassing a group of citizens in the name of their religion which is prejudicial to the peaceful atmosphere in Sambhal.
