The bail granted to eight out of 16 convicts in the 1987 Hashimpura cold-blooded murder of 42 Muslims is regrettable.

These hardcore criminals from the PAC were sentenced to life imprisonment for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, murder and causing the disappearance of evidence of the offence.It was on 22nd May 1987, Uttar Pradesh provincial armed constabulary personnel forcibly took away 50 Muslim youths from Hashimpura village in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The victims were later shot dead and their bodies were dumped in a canal. 42 people were declared dead in the incident.
