
The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) West Bengal State Working Committee meeting was held in Kolkata in the presence of National President M. K. Faizy to review the party’s organisational progress and chart its future course of action. The meeting, presided over by State President Hakikul Islam, was attended by National General Secretary Mohammed Ashraf; National Secretaries Tayedul Islam and Ya Mohideen; National Secretariat Member Rasheed Umari; National Working Committee Members Yasmin Islam (National President, Women India Movement), Dr. Mahboob Shariff, and Runa Laila; State Working Committee members; and the District Presidents and General Secretaries from across West Bengal.
The proceedings commenced with a welcome address by State General Secretary Dr. Kamal Basirujjaman, who presented a comprehensive report on the party’s organisational expansion, mass movements, and political activities undertaken across the state over the past one and a half years.
Addressing the meeting, National President M. K. Faizy reviewed the national political scenario and highlighted SDPI’s expanding organisational presence and growing public support across the country. He outlined the party’s organisational priorities for West Bengal and called upon the State and District Committees to intensify membership expansion, grassroots mobilisation, and organisational consolidation. As part of the National Committee’s organisational decisions, Dr. Mahboob Shariff was appointed as the State In-Charge of SDPI West Bengal with effect from 25 July 2026.
