SDPI terms nationwide extension of NRC as weird and repeat of it in Assam ridiculous

New Delhi: The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has termed the announcement by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament that the government would go for nationwide extension of NRC, (National Register of Citizens), as weird, and a repeat of it in Assam ridiculous.

SDPI national president M. K. Faizy in a statement said that the government is taking refuge in these petty issues to hide the massive economic collapse in the country. There are a hundreds of important problems to be tackled in the country other than NRC.How ever the regime is trying divert attention from them putting the entire citizenry to prove its bona-fides.

The NRC exercise in Assam has failed to achieve the nefarious objectives of Hindutwa right because out of the over 19 lakh people out of the list, 13.5 lakh turned out to be Hindus! In other parts of the country, far away from Assam, the likelihood of finding the suspects will be even lesser.

He said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill, (CAB), which discriminates against Muslims, is loaded against the right to equality and equal protection before the law as enshrined in Article 14 of the Constitution. It is laso bsic tenets of international laws against discrimination on the basis of religion. There is strong suspicion that the nationwide NRC exercise is to target Muslims.

Faizy hoped better counsel will prevail on the authorities and they would abandon the suicidal project. India lives in its liberalism, peace and harmony. The Constitution of India is a protective fort for the masses. The government should not allow these things fall into ruins by its myopic extension of NRC-CAB combine nationwide.
