SDPI Questions Minority Minister Kiren Rijiju’s Ajmer Dargah Visit; Seeks Answers on Justice, Governance and Accountability

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday offered a chadar at the Dargah of Khwaja Saheb in Ajmer, marking the first day of the six-day annual Urs. Responding to the visit, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has described the gesture as symbolic and evasive, and has demanded clear, public answers on long-pending issues related to justice, statutory governance, financial propriety, and the safety and dignity of one of India’s most revered Sufi shrines.

SDPI said that the offering of a chadar cannot substitute ministerial responsibility, constitutional accountability, and statutory compliance, especially when serious questions affecting the Dargah and the minority community remain unanswered

SDPI demanded that the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs should
publicly clarify its stand on the Ajmer Dargah blast case appeals and ensure institutional follow-up in light of the Supreme Court’s direction

Immediately constitute the Dargah Committee as mandated under the Dargah Khwaja Saheb Act, 1955. Initiate time-bound action on safety audits, infrastructure repair, and allegations of corruption and sexual harassment. Act decisively on CAG-reported financial irregularities and fix responsibility without delay

“The Dargah of Khwaja Saheb stands for justice, equality and moral accountability. The community deserves answers, action and transparency—not silence wrapped in ceremony,” the statement concluded.
