RELEASE CHANDRASHEKHAR AZAD; SDPI HELD MASSIVE PROTEST MARCH IN NEW DELHI
NSA On Bhim Army Leader A Conspiracy By The Yogi Led BJP Government
New Delhi 27 December 2017: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) held a massive public rally from 11-Murthy to UP Bhavan in the national capital demanding the release of Dalit activist and Bhim Army leader Chandrashekhar Azad, whom the party alleges to have been slapped anachronistic law NSA and pushed behind the bars. SDPI leadership has termed the detention of Chandrashekhar Azad a conspiracy by the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh aimed at curbing the dissent and up rise of Dalit movements in the state.
SDPI leadership alleged that the government of UP thwarting the judicial order, slapped NSA against Chandrashekhar Azad undermining the spirit of the order of the High Court, denying him the civil liberty and legal protection.
SDPI strongly objected to and slammed the BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh for invoking the NSA to suppress dissent from the Dalit community. SDPI charged the Yogi led UP government of missing the NSA to curb the Dalit uprising against persecution in the state, as it slapped the anachronistic law on Azad after he was granted bail by the Allahabad high court. The charges made against Chandrashekhar Azad are fabricated and politically motivated.
SDPI top leadership submitted a memorandum with the resident commissioner UP Bhavan addressed to the governor of UP petitioning the authority to intervene in to the matter and direct the UP government to withdraw the National Security Act (NSA) charged on the Dalit activist Chandrashekhar Azad.
The agitation was participated by hundreds of party cadres and members led by party vice president Adv. Sharfuddin Ahmed with the presence of prominent dignitaries representing different organizations. National Vice-President of Social Democratic Party of India, Sharafuddin Ahmed, Ex National Chairman of the Popular Front of India E.M. Abdul Rehman, National General Secretaries of SDPI Mohammed Elyas Thumbe and Mohammad Shafi, SDPI Delhi Convener Dr. Nizamuddin Khan, State President Uttar Pradesh’s Mohammed Kamil, Delhi State Committee member Manoj Kumar Vidrohi, founder and Chairman of Jansatta Party Ashok Bharti, Senior Social and Political Activist Dr. Taslim Rahmani, Former Income Tax Commissioner, R.P.
