SDPI FIELD ITS CANDIDATES IN DELHI LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ELECTION 2020

New Delhi, 16th January 2020: The main thrust of SDPI has been agitating politics to establish and to mark its presence in Indian politics, SDPI has also been intervening into electoral politics and has succeeded at number of places in various states like Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan etc. in wining seats in local body elections. Last time SDPI in view of the widening political cleavage communally has selected only 14 parliamentary constituencies in five states to field the candidates and has scored about 50,000 votes in one of the constituencies apart from good counts of votes in others. The selected and limited intervention has proved that SDPI wants to avoid split in secular votes so that not even to give indirect benefit to communal politics. In view of the track record to stand with likeminded parties, SDPI has been very selective in fielding its candidates in election.

It is unfortunate that political parties in opposition have run  gamut from secular to communal and castes benefitting to RSS-BJP by pre or post-election alliances and has been either indifferent or ineffective to chalk out a plan to adequately oppose the dangerous, undemocratic and unconstitutional programming of BJP, based on its known ideological principles. We have been observing that the ideology of RSS-BJP has got a walk over in Indian politics only because of the un-ideological politics of the opposition parties that have surrendered to majoritarian pressure and have always been conducting themselves an unprincipled attitude creating confusion regarding various issues faced by the country and has totally failed to properly deal with the challenges to the constitution and the democracy.

In the view of given circumstances, it is expedient that SDPI may field some candidates to grow an alternative to the rotten politics promoting casteism, nepotism, communalism, lawlessness and capitalism.

SDPI in view of its pan India strength exercising internal democracy in the party, has decided to field only three candidate out of seventy In Delhi Assembly Election, February 2020. So that we may prepare to grow as an alternative in Indian politics in view to be ready to protect the constitution and democracy.
