New Delhi, 27 June 2014
The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has deplored the NIA, (National Investigation Agency), for reportedly asking senior Public Prosecutor Ms Rohini Salian to “go soft” in the 2008 Malegaon blasts case, wherein allegedly Hindu extremists are involved, after the NDA government came to power at the Centre in May 2014.
SDPI national president A. Sayeed in a statement said that the entire justice delivery system would collapse if a prosecutor was directed to lose a criminal case. Justice will disappear from the country if a prosecutor is pressurized not to prosecute criminals. It amounts to belittling the administration of justice and it is not permitted in any civilized society, he added.
He said as per Public Prosecutor Ms Salian the NIA has “done nothing” since it took over investigations in 2011 — when the UPA Govt. was in office. The agency has not filed new charge-sheet or any material. In fact, their failure to file a charge-sheet led to the three accused who were arrested after 2011 being released on bail on technical grounds. The Supreme Court has not dropped the MCOCA charges against the accused as the defence team is now trying to wrongly interpret, he pointed out.
He stated that what today the Public Prosecutor has revealed was expected by all free thinking people from the day one of Modi Govt. They will do anything to protect these “patriotic” bombers, because the hate created by these groups is the main reason for the Modi success. So, it is his duty to repay the debt now.
The statement said that people had raised fingers on Hindu outfits for the killing of Hemant Karkare, who was the chief of the then Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). Any officer who impartially treats the accused is eliminated. Ms Salian’s statements now put the focus back on just how much influence right wing groups wield in the Modi government and whether it is influencing the dispensation of justice as well, the statement stated. Sayeed said that this is not a good sign. It only shows the country’s already half-dead, half-alive law and justice system is being corrupted and degraded by the communal thugs. The Modi Govt. is absolute disappointment. With each day the masks are falling down.
