SDPI DENOUNCES ARREST OF POLITICAL PARTY LEADERS AND ACTIVISTS
New Delhi, 19th Dec 2019: MK Faizy, National President of Social Democratic Party of India, in a press release today, strongly denounced the arrest of political party and student leaders and activisrs at various parts of the country. Left party leaders Sitaram Yechuri, Prakash Karat and D. Raja, SDPI National Secretary Dr. Tasleem Ahmed Rahmani, Jama at e Islami Telangana Ameer, Hamid Muhammad Khan, Popular Front of India Assam State President Ameen ul Haq, Historian Ramachandra Guha, Campus Front national leaders Rashid and Shoaib are arrested and put under custody at different parts of the country including Delhi.
The arrests were related to the anti-CAA, anti-NRC public protests that gained momentum across the country.
The central government is trying to suppress the democratic right of the citizens to dissent. The nation seems to be under an undeclared emergency. SDPI will be in the forefront of all democratic struggles against the iron-fisted stubbornness and anti-democratic steps of the fascist government.
He called upon the democratic and secular public to raise strong protests against the autocratic and oppressive acts of the central government.
