Bangalore:
Chamrajnagar City Municipal Council held election for the position of president & vice president. INC’s Nanjunda Swamy got elected as President & the SDPI-Social Democratic Party of India’s candidate Waheeda Khanum got elected as Vice President of the council.
SDPI has won 4 wards in ULB-Urban Local Body election held in Feb 2013. Congress local president & sdpi candidate discussed about power sharing & decided to field the candidate according to caste. City municipal election SDPI contested first time & fielded 8 places & won 4 seats, 2 seats secured second place, 2 seats finished in 3rd place.
This infact is the first time in the history that Chamrajnagar witnessed a woman being elevated to the position of a vice president in the CMC
