No religious groups other than those who stand with the Hindutva ideology are safe in India. The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) reports about the desecration of 500 churches and two synagogues across India, last year. The USCIRF report, published as part of its annual review on global religious freedoms, underscores the increasing number of attacks on Christian and Jewish places of worship in India. It attributes these incidents to rising religious polarisation and the influence of right-wing extremist groups. This alarming trend highlights the growing concerns over religious intolerance and violence targeting minority communities in the country.Muslims are termed to be the first ‘internal enemy’ by the RSS ideologue Golwalkar, with Christians and Communists being the second and third enemies respectively. Surprisingly, as per the report, Jews, not included in the enemy list also are being targeted by the fascists. Let us join hands together to resist the politics of hate and religious polarisation and restore the India of unity in diversity, that our forefathers dreamt while freeing the country from the colonial forces.
