PROVIDE COVID VACCINE FREE OF COST AND MAKE OXYGEN AVAILABLE IN ALL HOSPITALS – SDPI

New Delhi, 27th April 2021: Intervention of the apex court in the Covid vaccine availability issue is a welcome and consoling step, stated MK Faizy, National President of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). While the country stands dazed in the second wave of Covid pandemic, the Union Government is juggling with the lives of the citizens. It has allowed the vaccine manufacturers to fix price for the vaccine which it should have provided to the citizens free of cost. It is in this context the Supreme Court of India has sought explanation from the Union Government about the logic and rationale of fixing price for Corona virus vaccine and other necessary items. Deaths across the country for lack of oxygen in the hospitals are rising ominously. The Union Government has not taken any serious steps to contain the crisis, but it is letting loose the vaccine manufacturers to exploit the pandemic; and to profiteer from the disaster, said Faizy.Faizy urged the central government to raise to the occasion and to ensure that Covid vaccine is made available free of cost to all citizens; and to make sure that adequate oxygen supply is available in all hospitals across the country.
