The NIA raids at the residences of Tamilnadu SDPI president Nellai Mubarak and the NWC member Muhammad Farooq are highly condemnable. It is an effort of the ruling BJP to intimidate the political parties opposing the BJP and intended to suppress the growth of the SDPI which has been strengthening its mass base among the backward and marginalised communities in the country, stated Elyas Muhammad Thumbe, the National General Secretary of the Social Democratic Party of India.
