Press Release
It is a matter of utmost satisfaction for SDPI that the Hon’ble Supreme Court has been kind enough to take up the matter of CAA at the earliest by fixing the hearing on Tuesday, the 19th March 2024.
The Hon’ble Court, after a short hearing, has granted three weeks time to the Union Government to file a detailed reply, fixing 9th April for the next hearing and has also been gracious enough to permit the petitioners to mention to the Court, in case the Government tries to enforce the law at issue before 9th April.
The credit of being very alert on the matter may exceptionally be claimed by SDPI in view of it launching bold and country-wide protests against the authoritarian move of the government with the slogan “Kaagaz Nahi Dikhayenge” and also being the one and only political organisation to burn the copy of the CA Bill in Delhi coupled with resorting to present a well-drafted Special Leave Petition before the Hon’ble Supreme Court challenging the Vires of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in 2020.
SDPI has also timely filed an Amendment Application against the Rules enforced and published in the Official Gazette on 11th March 2024 alongwith other petitioners numbering more than two hundred, before the Supreme Court which has clubbed together all the Applications for hearing.

Amit Shah is the Union Home Minister. He should tell the country as to what prevents him from producing the documents that substantiate his gibberish about the Waqf Board encroaching land, and stop spreading venomous allegations targetting a community to grab votes by inciting communal sentiments.

Despite the Supreme Court banning the attempts to coerce vendors to display their names in their shops, the Sangh Parivar hatemongers have opted for saffron-flagging of the shops of Hindus, which, in effect, serves the very purpose of differentiating the shop owners based on their religion.
