National Secretariat meeting of the party, held on 15 May 2026, passed the following resolution.
Resolution 4
Demand for an All-Party Meeting on the Self-Lockdown Crisis
The sudden announcement of a self-lockdown by the Prime Minister has emerged as a grave national concern, with far-reaching consequences for the domestic, commercial, and logistical fabric of the country. The abrupt nature of this announcement, without prior consultation with opposition parties, state governments, or relevant stakeholders, reflects a deeply centralised and non-consultative style of governance.
While it is acknowledged that the prevailing war situation in the Gulf region has created an extraordinary and challenging circumstances for India, such a crisis demands a united, transparent, and collective national response rather than unilateral decisions from the Union government.
The self-lockdown has already begun to severely affect daily wage workers, small traders, transporters, and ordinary citizens who depend on uninterrupted economic activity for their livelihoods. The absence of any clear relief measures or contingency plan for these vulnerable sections is deeply troubling.
It is therefore resolved that the Union government must immediately convene an All-Party Meeting to discuss the crisis, share ground-level information transparently, and evolve a collective national strategy. Adequate relief and support measures must be announced without delay for daily wage workers, small businesses, and the economically vulnerable. The government must act with far greater responsibility, sensitivity, and transparency in communicating with both Parliament and the people of India during this period of national uncertainty
