The Social Democratic Party of India will fight the draconian and anti-minority Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, through every legal and political avenue available. This bill, designed with malicious intent, is nothing short of an orchestrated attack on the Muslim community, aimed at seizing Waqf properties and erasing the autonomy of Muslim institutions. The BJP-led government, driven by its communal agenda, has once again exposed its deep-seated hostility toward India’s Muslim population.
This bill is not a reform; it is a blatant act of aggression against the constitutional rights of religious minorities. By forcing non-Muslims into Waqf Boards, the government is violating the very foundation of religious self-governance enshrined in Article 26 of the Indian Constitution. The elimination of the ‘Waqf by user’ provision is a direct ploy to snatch thousands of historic properties that have served the community for centuries, particularly targeting mosques, graveyards, and religious institutions. By handing over the power of Waqf dispute resolution to district collectors, the BJP has paved the way for administrative land grabs, effectively nullifying the authority of Waqf Boards and the judiciary.
We express our deepest gratitude to all Members of Parliament and political parties who stood firmly against this unconstitutional bill, exposing its sinister motives in Parliament. Their resistance reflects the true spirit of democracy and justice. However, we also issue a stern warning to those MPs and parties who sided with the BJP in this betrayal of the people—history will remember your complicity in this crime against India’s secular fabric. You will be held accountable in the court of the people, and the consequences of your treachery will be felt in the political future of this country.
The BJP’s reckless obsession with communal politics will cost India dearly, deepening social fractures and undermining constitutional values. The SDPI calls upon all justice-seeking citizens, organizations, and movements to join the legal and democratic fight against this bill.
We will not be silenced. We will not surrender. The struggle for justice has just begun.

National Vice President
