The Feet-wash Drama Remains an Election Gimmick

Five years after the dog and pony show of washing the feet by the prime minister, those ‘elevated’ sanitation workers still lack a house to live in, an opportunity to eat with the upper caste or acceptance as human beings in society. Their applications for a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are kept in the freezer.It’s not the feet of the sanitation workers, but the caste-contaminated minds of the people that are to be washed and it is that mindset that needs sanitation.
