Yes, there is. Citizens have the right to know the full biodata of those who rule them. If these data are not relevant to the public then what’s the need of submitting an affidavit detailing all these to contest elections?

Neither the Constitution nor any other statutory terms mandate that the prime minister of India should be a degree holder or a postgraduate, not even literate for that matter. Then why should be one ashamed to disclose his educational qualifications?
