Targeting of the Masjids Must Be Stopped

It has become common news that Masjids in North Indian BJP-ruled states are being systematically targeted. Several incidents of bulldozing and vandalising the Masjids have certainly damaged the secular fabric of the country. Due to these incidents, feelings of insecurity have been created among the minority communities.

Regarding the Shahi Masjid incident in Ujjain, though the situation is now peaceful, the high-handedness and unruly behaviour of the municipal authorities and the police have worsened the situation into a reckless, ruthless and anarchic condition in the city.
SDPI strongly condemns the high-handedness of Police in this incident.

It is the need of the hour that the regime should always work for the inclusiveness of all people and to strengthen the bonding within society. The ruling sections must not resort to divisive motifs and discriminatory policies.
