Stop Ridiculing the Farmers

The Union government, for the sake of its crony capitalists, is ridiculing the farmers. The new announcement of National Policy Framework on Agricultural Marketing (NPFAM) is subsequent to the state-wide Bandh in Punjab last week that was conducted in support of the farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal who has been on a fast-unto-death strike in support of long-pending farmers’ demands. There are no provisions guaranteeing a Minimum Support Price (MSP) and minimum wages for workers in the new policy. The government should abstain from fooling the farmers for the pleasure of its cronies and address their demand for a guarantee of MSP and minimum wages for the workers.
