Almost one and a half years have elapsed since the ethnic clash in Manipur erupted. Hundreds of valuable human lives were lost and properties worth crores have been destroyed since. However, the governments have not done anything positive to bring back peace in the state and to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. Both, state and union governments have been an utter failure in containing the ethnic clash. They were indirectly supporting a particular group and encouraging their atrocities, which deteriorated the atmosphere in the state leading to unending violence. The major step that the government(s) used to initiate during the escalation of violence was to cut the internet facilities in the state! The latest news from the state points to the victims retaliating by attacking the ruling political leaders and their properties. This is not at all an acceptable turn of events. It seems the state is heading for a civil war, which should be prevented by all means, for the interest of all in the state and the country. Unless the bigots ruling the state and the country stop their racist stand, view and treat all the citizens equally irrespective of their religious faith and focus on the development of the country rather than focusing on eliminating others, peace and harmony will vanish from the country.
