New Delhi, 30th Nov 2021: MK Faizy, National President of Social Democratic Party of India stated that the act of admitting the plea to remove the Shahi Eidgah Masjid, by the Mathura District Court is adding insult to injury on the Muslim community in India.

The right wing Hindutva fascists have already prepared a list of the Masjids to be demolished, and destruction of Babri Masjid was the first successful trial of this demolition series. The court verdicts on the Babri Masjid dispute have acted as a shot in the arm of these bigot fascists. The Muslim community has still not recovered from the shock and trauma inflicted upon them in the Babri Masjid case, and it is in this poignant situation that the Hindutva forces have moved the court with this divisive and destructive plea.

The saddening part is that the court, by admitting the plea to remove the Masjid has violated the provisions of Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991 which declare that the religious character of a place of worship shall continue to be the same as it was on August 15, 1947 and that no person shall convert any place of worship of any religious denomination into one of a different denomination or section.

Demolition of Masjids is one of the key agendas of the Sangh Parivar in their journey towards the Hindutva Rashtra as envisaged by Golwalkar, the second Sar Sangh Chalak of RSS. They have already saffronised the entire system including the judiciary to a great extent; and the act of the court on the plea to remove Shahi Eidgah Masjid is the result of this saffronisation.

The claim on the Masjid will widen the communal polarisation and would lead to further deterioration of the tranquility and the already thinned communal harmony in the country.

Unless the secular democratic people in the country wake up and resist the agenda of bigotry of the extreme right wing fascists, secular and democratic India will remain only in the annals of history, stated Faizy.
