SDPI dubs BJP Manifesto as persistent with divisive communal agenda
New Delhi: The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has dubbed the BJP Manifesto, released for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, as a document of usual divisive communal agenda which is persistent with the yesteryears.
SDPI president M. K. Faizy in a statement pointed out that the BJP’s 2019 manifesto contains its core agenda commitment to the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya, abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Uniform Civil Code, Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and Triple Talaq Bill.
Faizy said that it seems BJP after ruling India for five years has learnt nothing to be a real nationalist party in letter and spirit which believes in unity in diversity, the hallmark of the country’s ethos. Some of the divisive agenda being simple copy-paste affair and are repeated in its manifesto over the decades is put on the back-burner whenever it assumes power while it engages itself to polarising the society and keep the minorities in a state of fear.
He said what’s common to 2014 and 2019 manifestos is both are a montage of promises. Line them up side by side and one will stumble on promises made and promises not kept; promises now made with a question mark. Will they be kept if Narendra Modi gets a second term is what strikes the mind? Will the promise to “double farmers’ income” in one year and build houses for all by 2020, will they be kept? According to bbc.com/hindi/resource the 2014 BJP manifesto made 246 promises, out of which Modi fulfilled only 117, partially fulfilled 190 and did nothing on 39.
Faizy said BJP had blasted Congress for the “jobless growth” scenario and promised to reverse it. Now, the tables are turned. With joblessness at a four-decade high according to a leaked NSSO report, BJP finds itself no place to hide in. The manifesto which talks of ensuring “civilisational continuity” is attempting to re-establish manusmriti and undermining the Constitution of the country. Overall BJP manifesto is a damp squib document heralding its imminent fall from grace and power, he added.
