LOVE JIHAD’ACT BY GUJARAT GOVT IS NOTHING BUT DENIAL OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS AND AN ATTACK ON INDIAN CONSTITUTION

Gujarat, 2nd April 2021: Social Democratic Party of India, Gujarat State Committee condemned passing of ‘Freedom of Religion Act 2003, Amendment Bill’ and expressed its strong opposition against denial of fundamental rights as enshrined in the constitution. SDPI Gujarat State President Mohammad Irshad Leelgar said, our country has guaranteed the Freedom of Religion to its every citizen under Article 25 to 28 of Indian constitution. However, Gujarat BJP government has passed this amendment only for harassing and detain Muslim and Christian communities under the pretext of ‘Love Jihad’.Irshad Leelar reiterated that the Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy responded in a written reply to the Lok Sabha in February 2020 that “No such case of ‘love jihad’ has been reported by any of the central agencies”. In spite of this fact, the BJP is misleading the nation to communalize and polarize the Hindutwa votes through this type of crooked way by passing so called ‘Love Jihad Bill’. Irshad Leelgar said that he was surprised by the statement of Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja who defended and said ‘there is international finance being channelised to lure Hindu girls into marriage and then their conversion”. Irshad said, how a minister can say such a blatant lie without an iota of proof and spread mistrust and malice among the people. This so called ‘Love Jihad Act’ (Freedom of Religion Amendment Act) is nothing but denial of fundamental rights, direct attack on Indian constitution and an effort to divide the people on religion for the purpose of vote politics.
