ED is used to silence opposition: MK Faizy
New Delhi, 4th August 2022: Expressing deep concern over seals, searches and unwarranted arrests of opposition leaders and their offices, National President of Social Democratic Party of India, MK Faizy has condemned the BJP government for using the Enforcement Directorate as a tool to silence dissent and opposition in the country.
The press statement has come after ED sealed the office of Young Indian Pvt Ltd, at Herald House on New Delhi’s Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg under the pretext of preserving evidence in an alleged case of money laundering.Faizy said that for any democracy to thrive, dissent must be allowed and questions addressed. But freedom and dissent are antithetic to the RSS-support BJP which does not believe in Constitutional morality and judicial norm and is bent to suppress any opposition to its policies and even to decisions which are adversely impacting the public like inflation, unemployment and the latest GST on food items. This is ominous for the world’s largest democracy, he added. The SDPI leader further said that raids are selectively carried out against opposition leaders, social activists and dissenters while many BJP leaders with tainted records are at large.
