CPIM Leaders Spreading Islamophobia

CPIM leaders are continually spreading Islamophobia, and they have turned out to be a lot nastier than the RSS in deriving pleasure out of such propaganda, stated SDPI Kerala State President CPA Latheef.He was responding to the derisive speech by the CPM polit bureau member Vijayaraghavan against the Muslim voters in Wayanad. It has been the CPIM that had set out the approach of keeping at bay the political organisations that emerge from the Muslim community, branding them extremists.This cannot be viewed as the disposition of certain leaders only. The fact is that the ‘anti-Muslim’ character is turning out to be the stance of the CPIM. From the stand of the party that does not repudiate the leaders who persistently jibe anti-Muslim comments, it is evident that these leaders are making these statements on the direction of the party. The CPIM reviews the presence of Muslims in the people’s agitations such as the agitations against GAIL, NH, etc., as extremism. CPIM is a party that has found extremism even in MEC7, a get-together promoting the health habits of the people. CPM, by fostering Islamophobia, has been engaged for a long in setting the ground for the Sangh Parivar for its hate propaganda. The RSS and the BJP have reaped benefits in the northern states by widely spreading the vitriolic anti-Muslim references of the CPIM leaders including the former Kerala chief minister VS Achuthanandan. These statements by the CPM for momentary political gains are harmful to the secular Kerala, said CPA Latheef.
