“Cow Protection,” the key tool of the Sangh Parivar in promoting hatred against other communities is at a deadlock in Nagaland. Strong opposition from Christians, the majority community in Nagaland, against the proposed Gau Dhwaj Yatra – a cow protection march – by the hardcore Hindutva groups has put the cow protectors in the doldrums. The Sangh Parivar with its political arm in power at the centre has been engaged in beating human beings to death in the name of saving the cows, for the past decade. The victims of the brutal murders by the Sangh Parivar cow vigilantes have been Muslims and Dalits, in other parts of the country. The killers haven’t been facing any substantial resistance or opposition from the mainstream political parties, even from those who claim to be their saviours and protectors. The cow-love game has taken a different turn in Nagaland, and even the BJP, the godfather of cow protection and the ruling partner of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), which leads the state government in Nagaland has distanced itself from the march. The message from Nagaland is obvious. Stand united to defeat the fissiparous activities of the Sangh Parivar.
