The spectacle around the Yamuna before Chhath Puja 2025 perfectly reflects the BJP’s obsession with image management rather than genuine work. A mud wall was built to block the polluted water, RO-treated Ganga water was pumped in to create an illusion of cleanliness, and the entire setup was covered with green tarpaulin for the cameras. When the truth began to emerge, the Prime Minister’s visit was quietly cancelled. What should have been a sacred occasion for millions of devotees turned into a display of political stagecraft and deception. Faith deserves sincerity, not showmanship.
