NWC Meeting of SDPI Held in Kozhikode
Kozhikode, 27 August 2025
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) convened its meeting on 27th August 2025 in Kozhikode, under the chairmanship of National Vice President Mohammad Shafi. The committee deliberated on the prevailing political scenario in the country and the forthcoming Bihar Assembly election.
Current Political Scenario in the Country
The meeting expressed grave concern over the growing threats to India’s democracy, federalism, pluralism and constitutional values:
Erosion of Electoral Integrity:
The Election Commission of India, instead of upholding democracy, is undermining it. The Special Intensive Review (SIR) conducted in Bihar was found to be ill-intentioned, depriving a large section of citizens of their voting rights. SIR has been hurriedly applied without following due process of law and it was politically motivated to damage the political opponents of the regime. Also, the shocking revelation of more than one lakh fake voters in Mahadevapura constituency, Bangalore, further exposes serious lapses in the functioning of the ECI.
