SDPI WEST BENGAL Holds Assembly Leaders Conference in Berhampore Ahead of the 2026 Assembly Elections

The Social Democratic Party of India West Bengal State Committee organized its Assembly Leaders Conference today at the Murshidabad Zilla Parishad Conference Hall in Berhampore, ahead of the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections.

The event commenced with the hoisting of the party flag by State President Mr. Hakikul Islam, marking the formal inauguration of the conference. Following this, State General Secretary Dr. Kamal Bashirujjaman extended a warm welcome to all attendees. The main session began with an insightful and data-driven address by All India General Secretary Mr. Iliyas Mohammad Thumbe, who elaborated on the party’s ideology, objectives, and growing influence across India.

In his speech, Mr. Thumbe stated that almost every political party in the country today works to serve the interests of the capitalist class, whereas SDPI stands as the only political force committed to bringing marginalized communities into the mainstream and establishing genuine social democracy. He also cited examples and statistics demonstrating how the party is steadily emerging as a strong political alternative by winning seats in various states.

Addressing the gathering, State President Mr. Hakeekul Islam and National Secretary Mr. Tayedul Islam discussed in detail the current political, social, and economic scenario of the nation. They critically analyzed the ideologies and policies of major political parties and their actual role in serving the people’s interests.

Speaking about the forthcoming elections, State General Secretary Mr. Hasibul Islam alleged that unqualified leaders are being deliberately placed in power to perpetuate corruption, neglect, and deprivation. He further claimed that minority, Christian, Dalit, and Adivasi communities are being systematically pushed to the margins. In a strong statement, he asserted, “The time has come to throw out the incompetent and corrupt leaders of the Trinamool Congress and to send SDPI’s capable leadership to the Legislative Assembly.”

The conference concluded with Mrs. Sabnam Mustari expressing heartfelt gratitude to all the speakers, delegates, and participants for their contributions to the successful event.

A press conference was also held on the sidelines of the event, where Mr. Hakikul Islam, Mr. Hasibul Islam, and Mr. Tayedul Islam strongly criticized the state government’s handling of the education and healthcare sectors, as well as the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process of the voter list.

Mr. Hakikul Islam remarked that by pushing the healthcare system toward privatization, the state has virtually destroyed its public medical infrastructure. He added that thousands of schools are suffering from a severe shortage of teachers, calling on the government to immediately begin large-scale teacher recruitment. He further described the SIR process as “highly suspicious,” demanding that it be conducted in a transparent and fair manner similar to the 2002 model.

The conference served as both a strategic and organizational milestone for the party, aimed at strengthening its structure and preparing for the upcoming elections. Representatives from various Assembly constituencies across West Bengal attended the event and unanimously agreed on action plans and strategies to enhance the party’s performance in the 2026 elections. All members of the State Committee were present on the dais.
