SDPI Slams BJP for Politicizing Armed Forces

Military Stands with the Constitution, Not Any Individual

Social Democratic Party of India vehemently condemns the Bharatiya Janata Party for its brazen politicization of India’s armed forces, exemplified by Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda’s deplorable claim that “the army and its soldiers bow at the feet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” Such rhetoric is a grave insult to the honor, independence, and sacrifices of our valiant soldiers, reducing their legacy to a mere prop for political gain.

India and its armed forces stand tall, answerable to the Constitution, not subservient to any individual. Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister, a public servant, not a monarch to whom the nation or its military owes allegiance. The BJP’s orchestrated Tiranga yatras, exploiting Operation Sindoor’s success for electoral mileage, and the shameful remarks by minister Vijay Shah against Colonel Sofia Qureshi—a beacon of unity—reveal a disturbing pattern of divisive and opportunistic politics.

We call on the BJP to halt this reckless politicization. Our armed forces deserve unwavering respect, not manipulation for partisan agendas. We urge all Indians to unite in celebrating our soldiers’ courage and to reject narratives that elevate any leader above the nation’s sovereignty.
