RSS’s Direct Grip on Governance Driving India into Crisis: Muhammad Shafi

Kozhikode: Social Democratic Party of India National Vice President Muhammad Shafi has warned that India is reeling under the disastrous consequences of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s direct control over governance.

He said that while the RSS had been steering the government from behind the scenes since 2014, in recent years it has begun openly dictating the country’s administration—pushing the nation into an unprecedented crisis. Shafi cautioned that the ruling forces are deliberately spreading fear to weaken the people. “A fearful population creates a weak nation,” he stressed.

Shafi was speaking while inaugurating the state-level launch of SDPI’s campaign, “Reclaim the Nation from the Vote Looters,” in Kozhikode. The campaign will run across Kerala from August 25 to September 25.

Drawing a sharp comparison, Shafi said the BJP’s governance mirrors Hitler’s dictatorship. “The BJP is like termites eating away at the nation from within. Not a single drop of Hindutva blood was shed for India’s independence. Yet today, the BJP seeks to plant the saffron flag in Parliament and whitewash the RSS, while ignoring the real issues of the people,” he asserted.

He further alleged that while genuine voters are being removed from electoral rolls, fake voters are being added—“butchering democracy itself.”

Expressing confidence that fascist conspiracies will ultimately fail, Shafi declared: “The day is not far when the people of India will rise with pride to celebrate constitutional freedom, democracy, and secularism. To achieve this, we must intensify our democratic struggle.”

The meeting was presided over by State Vice President P. Abdul Hameed. Also addressing the gathering were National Vice President B. M. Kamble, National General Secretaries P. Abdul Majeed Faizi and Yasmin Farooqui, National Working Committee Member Muvattupuzha Ashraf Maulavi, State General Secretaries Roy Arakkal and P. R. Ziyad, and Kozhikode District President Mustafa Kommeri.

Prominent leaders present included State Secretary Ansari Enath, State Treasurer N. K. Rasheed Umari, Women India Movement State Secretary K. K. Fousiya, SDPI District General Secretary K. Shameer, and Women India Movement District President Ramshina Jaleel.
