NWC Meeting of SDPI Held in Kozhikode
Kozhikode, 27 August 2025
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) convened its meeting on 27th August 2025 in Kozhikode, under the chairmanship of National Vice President Mohammad Shafi. The committee deliberated on the prevailing political scenario in the country and the forthcoming Bihar Assembly election.
Anti-Federal Constitutional Amendment:
The recently introduced constitutional amendment, which seeks the automatic removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and Ministers if they remain under arrest for 30 consecutive days, was strongly condemned. The National Working Committee noted that such a provision empowers the Union government, through agencies like the ED and CBI, to arbitrarily oust elected leaders without judicial conviction. This not only centralizes power in the Union but also weakens the autonomy of state governments, especially those led by opposition parties.
