On 31st August 2025, the Indian Muslim Public Affairs Committee (IMPAC) held its 5th Intellectual Conference in Mumbai, bringing together community leaders, intellectuals, and activists to deliberate on pressing issues affecting minorities in India.

The event, organized under the patronage of Hazrat Maulana Obaidullah Khan Azmi, Vice President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, and presided over by Mr. Mukhtar Hussain, witnessed powerful exchanges of ideas on social justice, minority rights, and the future of democratic participation in the country.

Representing the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Mr. Mohammad Shafi, National Vice President, delivered a significant intervention. He highlighted the urgent need to address the systematic marginalization of minorities, particularly in regions like Assam, where people face displacement and denial of citizenship rights. Stressing that the struggle for justice must be both intellectual and grassroots-based, he urged the community to stand united and proactive in defending constitutional values.

The day-long deliberations also heard valuable contributions from Mr. Shahnawaz Qadri, Mr. Shafi Sahab, Maulana Qamaruzzaman, Mr. Mushtaq Malik, Dr. Asma Zehra, Advocate Zunaid Khalid, Mr. Pervez Alam, and Mr. Saalim Khan. Each emphasized the urgency of building stronger institutions, empowering youth and women, and ensuring the community’s collective voice is heard at the national level.

The conference concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, followed by closing remarks from Mr. Nazimuddin Farooqui, who underscored the importance of unity and strategic action.
