BJP’s Political Maneuver in Bihar Undermines People’s Mandate

Muhammad Shafi, National Vice President of the Social Democratic Party of India, strongly condemns the recent political developments in Bihar, where the move by Nitish Kumar to seek a seat in the Rajya Sabha appears to pave the way for a Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party. This development raises serious concerns about the betrayal of the mandate given by the people of Bihar, who voted for leadership under Nitish Kumar and not for a political arrangement that sidelines him after the elections.

Such developments reflect a troubling pattern in which regional allies are used for electoral gains and later pushed aside once their purpose is served. The Social Democratic Party of India believes that such political maneuvers weaken democratic values and undermine the spirit of federalism. The people of Bihar deserve governance that respects their mandate and safeguards the dignity and autonomy of the state.
