Bihar Mandate: A Lesson on the Imperative of a United Alliance for Secular Parties

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) observes that the BJP’s landslide victory in Bihar serves as a critical lesson for all secular political parties: it underscores the paramount importance of uniting under a single alliance to prevent the right-wing BJP from consolidating power.

The electoral outcome in Bihar once again demonstrates that a fractured secular vote is a recipe for defeat. The Grand Alliance must be reconstituted with the full confidence and inclusion of every party, big and small.

It is now imperative for the Congress, the RJD, and all other partners of the INDIA alliance to engage in sincere introspection regarding their failed approach to alliance politics. These parties must come together to form a broad-based coalition, dedicated to mobilizing the secular vote. This requires taking every significant political platform into confidence, with the shared objective of defeating the divisive and vested political agenda that currently threatens the nation’s fabric.
