Elyas Thumbe Condemns Derogatory Remarks by Donald Trump on India’s Economy
Elyas Muhammad Thumbe, National General Secretary of the Social Democratic Party of India strongly condemns the recent derogatory and baseless remark by the U.S. President Donald Trump, who described India as a “dead economy.” Such a statement reflects not only arrogance and ignorance, but also the colonial mindset that continues to plague certain sections of Western leadership.
Mr. Trump, through his repeated foolish and provocative statements, has shown himself to be divorced from diplomatic decency and economic reality. His views stem from a deeply rooted imperialist attitude that sees countries across the Global South as subordinate colonies to the United States.
This is not just an insult to India, but an affront to all developing nations striving for economic sovereignty and global respect. The tax terrorism and protectionist policies promoted under Trumpism have not only damaged global trade but have also isolated the very Western nations that once championed free market globalization. Ironically, the West is now grappling with the consequences of the same exploitative strategies it once imposed on others.
The SDPI views such comments as an attack on India’s dignity, progress, and sovereignty. We call upon all Indians—irrespective of political or ideological affiliations—to stand united in rejecting and resisting any external attempts to belittle our nation or undermine its global standing.
Let this serve as a message to all who seek to undermine India’s growth: India is not a colony, and Indians will never bow before imperial arrogance.
