Another Step to Suppress Democracy

By amending the Conduct of Election Rules, the Union government is one more step ahead in strangling democracy in the country. The earlier Rule 93(2)(a) of the 1961 Conduct of Election Rules stated that “all other papers relating to the election shall be open to public inspection”. The amended rule says: “All other papers as specified in these rules relating to the election shall be open to public inspection.” So, the amendment denies the public the right to access all election-related documents.
