Supreme Court’s Direction Not to Completely Shut Down Metro and Train Services Is Welcome
New Delhi, October 9, 2026: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has welcomed the Supreme Court’s direction to keep Delhi Metro stations and train services operational as required, instead of completely shutting down metro stations and suspending train services ahead of the October 10 protest.
Paralysing citizens’ movement in the name of maintaining public order and restricting the right to peaceful protest are contrary to democratic principles.
SDPI condemns the dictatorial policies of the BJP regime, which is systematically undermining democracy by misusing the Election Commission, investigating agencies, and police forces. SDPI warns that the unity of the people and their determined struggle will restore democracy.
