India’s Shift in Foreign Policy is Alarming

Resolutions passed at the National Secretariat Meeting of the Social Democratic Party of India held on 7 March 2026 in New Delhi
Resolution No: 1
India’s Shift in Foreign Policy is Alarming
India has traditionally been a non-aligned country that has consistently advocated impartial and cordial foreign relations since its inception. This approach earned India a respectable position in the international arena. However, the current regime has shattered this legacy by introducing a paradigm shift in foreign policy, steering it towards unethical and unstable international relationships.
The direct intrusion into India’s international trade by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, ordering India to stop purchasing oil from Russia and then permitting a 30-day waiver, is nothing but an insult to the sovereignty of our country. Furthermore, sidelining the long-standing relationship with Iran while moving closer to Israel is a serious blunder committed by the Union government.
The SDPI resolves that the Union Government must uphold the sovereignty and diplomatic legacy of the nation and must not bow to the intimidation of colonial or imperial forces.
