SDPI DEMANDS TO STOP U P POLICE THREATS IN ALIGARH

New Delhi, 15th March 2020: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has condemned the Uttar Pradesh Police for reportedly threatening Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students to shoot down them when they were taking out a candle march to condole the death of a fellow student who succumbed to injuries on March 13, 2020. The student was injured following firing by saffron brigade hooligans indulging in violence while opposing the anti-CAA protests in the town.

SDPI National General secretary Mohammad Shafi in a statement while condoling the death of the student criticized the UP Police for its high-handedness and failure in properly maintaining law and order in the state. He said the police is not ready to arrest all those who were involved in the incident where the student Tariq Husain was seriously injured in firing by the hoodlums.

Shafi said that in Uttar Pradesh criminals are roaming free. Criminal incidents are taking place one after the other. However, its Yogi-led BJP government has turned deaf. Has the Uttar Pradesh government surrendered before criminals? In the state, innocents are being subjected to cruelty. Women are being pushed to an atmosphere of fear but the U P government was not concerned.

He said that the country’s Constitution is being put to shreds and Democracy in this feudal backward land is a huge sham. He demanded compensation to the student who succumbed to injuries in Aligarh and to all those who have suffered loss of life and properties in the state sponsored violence against anti-CAA/NPR/NRC campaign in the state.
